Fall student activities

English Corner is an international student outreach ministry of CCF. The University of Illinois ranks fifth in the nation for international student populations with approximately ten thousand international students which make up roughly a fifth of the universities total student population.

English Corner held a cookout at Tyler Penn’s house. The international students enjoyed many American traditions such as roasting marshmallows and making s’mores around a campfire. For many students who grew up in a city it was the first time they had seen the stars at night.

The Fall semester has started!!

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has welcomed a record-breaking class
for the fall 2024 semester. With a freshman enrollment of 9,008, the new class brings
record total student enrollment at 59,238, including on-campus and online students.
This total includes 37,140 undergraduates and also a record number of 20,765
graduate students.

At the beginning of each new school year there is an event called Quad Day. It is a
day where all the student organizations have a place on the quad to showcase
themselves. For the ministry it is a wonderful day to get to reach out to the new
students. It is also an important time to connect to the new students during the first
couple weeks as they settle into their school routine/life.

English Corner had a Quad Day table setup manned by a lot of wonderful volunteers
who connected with students. English Corner is currently running around 40 – 50
students at their weekly large group meeting from approximately a dozen different
countries. Students are coming from throughout the world to central Illinois which is a
huge opportunity to share the gospel to those who might not hear in their home
country. Please be in prayer for all the students both foreign and domestic at the
University of Illinois that they may see the light of Christ.

Praise God for all he has done!

July 4th 2024 CCF letter update

As we celebrate July 4th, remember Christ who set us free from our sin.

The Christian Campus Foundation at the University of Illinois has two ministries. One is a fellowship of domestic student believers and the second is an outreach called English Corner which reaches out to international students. We are thankful for our religious freedom that we enjoy but many places in the world do not have that freedom. Students are coming from throughout the world to central Illinois so there is a huge opportunity to share the gospel to those who might not hear in their home country. Please be in prayer for all the students both foreign and domestic at the University of Illinois that they may see the light of Christ.

Praise God for all he has done!

May 2024 CCF letter update

We are thankful for your support!

The English Corner international student outreach ministry had a good Easter turnout with about ten students who attended church with the Tyler Penn family. For some of these students, it was the first time they had attended a church service. After church, the students joined the Penn family for lunch and Easter activities. Please pray that the Lord will continue to touch their hearts and that they will seek a deeper relationship with him.

Praise God for all he has done!
